In the spring of 1970 or 1971 just before Miss Devore's retirement the school gave her a surprise assembly with a visit of all the class color guards which went back to my class of 1945-1946. When Bill Bault of the class 1946-1947(Bill became President of Goldey Beacom College) came down the isle of the auditorium she told everyone that his class was the first. Bill informed her that there was one more class that started the color guard. She was really surprised when I came down the isle (Harry Andrew Talley) As I looked over to the students I saw Bernice Tanenbaum a fellow classmate sitting with her class of students. She had gone from a student at Harlan to a teacher at Harlan.
